Franchising, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®
Finding purpose in franchising
“When you find a company that aligns with your personal purpose, you feel fulfilled and that’s right where you want to be.”
Meet Stephanie Clarey – franchise owner of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and TWO MEN AND A JUNK TRUCK®. Here, in honor of Women’s History Month, Stephanie shares what inspired her to become a franchise owner, what she wishes more people knew about being a woman in business.
What’s the best career advice you’ve been given?
Always continue to learn. When I started with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in the marketing manager position, I asked the franchise owner to be my mentor. Finding someone who has been where you want to go can help you grow. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. People are usually willing to help you if they know you’re committed to being your best.
What inspired you to pursue franchise ownership?
Several conversations I had with my mentor helped me think about what I’m passionate about. My mentor loved inspiring people and helping others move forward. I found being able to create a culture that builds people up around you really inspiring.
What advice do you have for women looking to grow their own business?
Make sure you have a great service or product. Then, build a great network to help you expand on that. It’s important to take risks on yourself. You have to believe in the service or product and fully leverage your network to market it.
What do you wish more people knew about being a woman in business?
Being in any leadership position – especially when running a business – you spend a lot of your time giving back to other people. That skill tends to come very naturally for women. The challenge is making time to fill your own cup – find what’s meaningful to you and make it a priority.
What’s an accomplishment or win that makes you especially proud?
When you’re part of an organization it’s important that you lead with integrity, treat people well and add value to others. I’m most proud of helping others be their best self and being part of an organization that is committed to doing the best we can with everyone around us.
What made you choose to own a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK business?
When you find a company that aligns with your personal purpose, you feel fulfilled and that’s right where you want to be.
